Experience Relief and Healing With Spinal Decompression

xray transparent spineHas back pain sidelined you from everything you love to do? If yes, we want you to know that healing help is available in the form of non-surgical spinal decompression at Parkside Health & Wellness Center. This unique treatment approach stimulates the body’s natural healing mechanisms. It focuses on restoring the health of spinal discs, which lack their own blood supply and rely on fluid from surrounding bones.

This therapy creates a systematic pattern of negative pressure, pulling herniated and bulging discs back into their natural shape to promote healing by restoring the pumping mechanism of the discs. Our treatment protocol also incorporates the use of a Class IV laser, further stimulating disc and nerve tissues to expedite recovery.

How Does Spinal Decompression Differ From Chiropractic?

While both chiropractic and spinal decompression treatments target spinal health, their methodologies differ significantly. Chiropractic treatment primarily focuses on aligning the spinal bones, relieving nerve pressure, and evenly distributing disc pressure.

However, it does not restore the pumping mechanism of the disc or resolve herniations or bulges within discs. In contrast, spinal decompression specifically targets these areas, offering a more comprehensive treatment plan for specific conditions.

What Conditions Can Be Addressed?

Spinal decompression therapy is highly effective in treating a variety of conditions. These include the following:

  • Herniated or bulging discs
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Spondylolisthesis related symptoms
  • Certain types of spinal stenosis
Our personalized approach ensures we target the specific issues affecting each patient, promoting optimal recovery outcomes.

What to Expect During Treatment

During a typical session, which lasts approximately 12 to 15 minutes, patients are harnessed onto a specialized table designed for precise movement and traction. Depending on the area being treated and the specifics of your disc problem, patients may lie on their backs or stomachs, allowing us to find the most beneficial position for their specific needs. Following decompression, we apply a Class IV laser to the neck, or to the lumbar spine while under decompression, to stimulate tissue healing further. This combination of therapies greatly enhances treatment effectiveness.

Is Spinal Decompression Painful?

Many patients understandably ask if this treatment is painful. The good news is that it’s not. Some consider it quite soothing. Our subtle technique lets the body relax and accept a deeper correction without discomfort. In fact, many patients find the experience so relaxing they often fall asleep during treatment! Our table allows us to find the perfect position for maximum comfort during the treatment.
